Autodesk Small Business Excellence Awards

Here are a few videos I produced  for Autodesk's Small Business Awards Campaign.  This marketing image campaign highlights one innovative Autodesk customer monthly, discussing with them in interview format the crucial role Autodesk software plays for their business.  Award selection criteria are very rigorous, and only Autodesk's cream-of-the-crop small business customers may qualify.

In each of these turnkey productions, I served as the Editor, the Technical Director, and the Videographer.  For "Escape Dynamics" specifically, I also Produced.

These are some really cool companies, so enjoy!

Escape Dynamics, a company which is creating electro-magnetic space propulsion systems:

Sanzpont Arquitectura, a next-level global architecture company:

Fiberight, a company which turns garbage into renewable energy

Microsoft Cloud OS Partner Readiness

When Microsoft launched their Cloud OS, tech corporations gathered at the STMG Partner Readiness Summit to discuss strategy and cooperation opportunities.  The event was well attended, bringing together some of the tech industry's most eminent thought leaders under one roof to draw a collaborative roadmap, and to discuss the future of cloud technology itself. Microsoft hired my agency to interview some of those thought leaders, and launched this documentary-style marketing campaign which presented them discussing the virtues of Microsoft's Cloud solution, and its implications in the future of cloud computing.  Here are two of the eight videos from that campaign.

Autodesk "Atomic Fiction"

This project originally began as one of the Autodesk Small Business Excellence Award series until a happy accident.  Typically, we produce these types of videos remotely, by sending a camera and microphone to the subject and conducting our interview with them over the internet.  But because Atomic Fiction, the renowned special FX company in Emeryville, was located so closely to our office in San Francisco my colleague and I decided to interview them on location instead.  Well, most unexpectedly to my cohort and myself, the entire vibe of the video changed.  Our presence completely altered feeling and style of the interview, and now this video no longer fit with the others in the series.  But a huge opportunity emerged, as my colleague (producer) and I realized that we had captured something great and altogether different than what we anticipated.  So we expressed our thoughts to Autodesk and suggested that they run this video as a standalone on the dot com, which they thankfully did.

Autodesk Infrastructure Campaign

Here are four videos I edited for Autodesk's Infrastructure FY14 Campaign. There are six more just like these...

Symantec Green IT Landing Page

This was one of my favorite projects ever!  Symantec launched their Green IT Landing Page in 2008, and I was tasked by to create visual b-roll elements, with very slight movement, which would loop in the background on the homepage.  Unfortunately, the page has been taken down —as always happens with web work, which demands than an editor practice constant detachment from his or her work—but the result was stunning.

Lucky me, I got to wander along Skyline Boulevard down the California coastline with only a camera, seeking naturally looping elements in Mother Nature herself.  Here are the six loops that I discovered:

The Stream

Pines and Fog

Twigs

Coastline

Bird On A Wire

The Green

Procera Logo Animation—Sound Design

Procera recently updated their branding, including logo and animation. I was the sound designer for this video intro.

Microsoft Azure "Faces"

What do you do when you have no b-roll?  Why, you shoot at 1080p and edit at 720p, that's what!  This technique enables an editor to manufacture great close-ups and edit together jump cuts more interestingly.

This documentary-style campaign which announced the release of Microsoft Azure features actual developers on location at the 2014 Azure Developers Conference in New Orleans.

Autodesk IDS Campaign

Some marketing campaigns are intended to instruct as well as to sell.  Such is the case with this one for Autodesk IDS 2014.
